Properties and Applications:  blue light grey. Soluble in hot water for red brown, soluble in ethanol for brilliant purple, insoluble in benzene. In concentrated sulfuric acid to purple, red brown after dilution precipitation; In concentrated nitric acid for red solution, and then into a pale yellow; In concentrated hydrochloric acid in red brown precipitation.
